Very well made . Adjusts easy and quite sturdy . I bought it because my significant other was recovering from an operation and was bed ridden for a time . It has allowed the time spent in bed to be much more comfortable . Way better than stacking and fussing with pillows

This has been a godsend! I have obstructive sleep apnea and due to concurrent medical problems I can't wear any of the breathing machines that help most people (CPAP, BiPAP, MiniPAP) and because I have no teeth (again due to medical problems) I can't wear a mouth piece. My solution for the past several years was to sleep in a recliner in the living room while hubby slept in the bedroom. It wasn't exactly how we planned on spending these years.....

I ordered this, hoping it would help. After reading reviews, I was ready with some padding and wrapped it around the back bottom bar of the rest as well as putting it around the bottom of the bars where the different settings are for the back. I do use a nice thick pillow with the rest; hubby got me a cooling gel pillow 2 months ago. The combination is great.

I only noticed a couple small problems with the back rest: First, there is a potential issue with the metal bars where the top and bottom of the rest intersect -- if you are a larger person, you will bump up against that junction more than once in a normal night. It would be nice to have some kind of a cover to put on that area; I guess I'll make one for myself to prevent a bruise or scratch.
Second, if you don't pad the crosswise bar that lays against the bed, the back rest will slide. I padded mine and put it up against the headboard to keep it from sliding around. It works well and keeps the piece from leaving marks on the wood.

Other than that, I have absolutely no complaints about the back rest. I had read about a smell upon opening the box - I didn't notice one. It appears to be well-constructed and does what it is made to do with no problems. It's great for me as a sleep apnea sufferer since I can't sleep flat or I stop breathing. The adjustable back helps a lot with comfort and positioning.

I will probably end up buying another one of these for the grandkids when they play video games or for an overnight guest who might prefer sleeping with their head elevated.

I can't recommend this back rest enough. It's great for our situation since the other option for us was to purchase an expensive medical-style bed and right now that is not in our budget. If you need or like to sleep with your head elevated, or if you like to read in bed, this is perfect for you. Remember to pad the bars so they don't leave marks on your headboard. I used a piece of perforated silicone foam I got in a package but a washcloth or small towel would work just as well.

Sturdy but not so comfy

At first I thought this was a wonderful substitute for my old and grubby foam wedge but never did figure out how to get comfortable using it. A pillow is required, for sure, but the metal side supports still feel icey cold against my back and arms. Too bad I couldn't make it work because this is a very sturdy and well built product. I'm sorry to say it's now gathering dust in the garage and I'm back to using my old foam wedge for reading in bed.

Due to a medical problem, I have to sleep upright all night. At home I sleep in a recliner but few hotels have recliners. In a night from hell, I tried to prop myself up on pillows because the backrest arrived cracked in the area of the adjustable slots. I have returned it and hop to get another one soon as we have other trips planned for this year. My husband likes it because it folds flat and takes up less room in the car. Too bad it is too big to fit in my suitcase for travel by plane. Will have to work on that problem. Since I am used to sleeping upright, I have no doubt that I'll adjust to this back rest just fine.

I have been using this item for 2 weeks and I am very satisfied. The main body (netting) is comfortable, the head rest is well positioned, and it holds all the different positions well.
The only con I can find is that if the base rests against the wall, it can damage the paint on your wall. I would add some protective
covering. I definitely recommend this item.
